Stefanos Dorbarakis was born in Athens in 1990. He is a graduate of the Department of Pedagogy and Primary Education of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a graduate of Byzantine Music and a kanun soloist. As a musician he has collaborated with renowned Greek and non-Greek artists (Ch. Aidonidis, Psarantonis, G. Hatzinassios, L. Chalkias, Ch. Tsiamoulis, N. Xydakis, G. Dalaras, T. Christogiannopoulos, S. Sinopoulos, M. Achalinotopoulos, M. Mitsias, V. Lekkas, D. Basis, P. Thalassinos, A. Katsigiannis, E. Karaindrou, M. Farantouri, Glykeria, K. Papadopoulou, K. Koullia, S. Papazoglou, R. Tomurcuk Gül, M. Anamaterou, A. Ketime, Z. Livaneli, H. Yazdjian, Z. Moultaka, C. Pluhar et al.), with distinguished orchestras (Mikis Theodorakis Orchestra, Athens State Orchestra, ERT National Symphony Orchestra, ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra, Thessaloniki City Symphony Orchestra, etc.), with the National Theatre of Greece and the Greek National Opera, while as a teacher he has served in Primary Education.
Over recent years, he has participated in renowned musical groups of traditional and art music in Greece (POLIS Ensemble, Notio Toxo / Aegean Arc, Anastatica) and abroad (L' Arpeggiata) and has - as a musician, performer and choir director - taken part in numerous recordings. In addition, he facilitates seminars and workshops of traditional music throughout Greece and abroad, while he has composed music for folk tales and children´s stories. He has also composed music for short films and documentaries.
In 2016, he releases his first independent album entitled: "Lefko Gramma" / "Blank Letter" by Melodiko Karavi Productions consisting of original instrumental compositions of his. In 2023 he releases his second personal album entitled: "Lychnikon" by Aparchi Productions.
To date, he has written eight books with content mainly for children.
