"Petros lived in the middle of the 18th century. He was born in the Gorani of Laconia, he learned music in Smyrna and due to his great talent, he reached Constantinople, where he excelled as a Lampadarios (left choir cantor) in the Patriarchal Church, as a teacher of Greeks, Armenians and Turks, as a composer of ecclesiastical and secular music, as well as a master of the most classical instruments of Ottoman music, the ney and the tambur. He became the most famous musician of his time and enjoyed the esteem of the Roman community, but also of the MEVLEVI Dervishes and the Sultan. Through an emotional approach to the story of Petros given in this book, Greek children will learn about the unknown personality of Petros Peloponnesios, since the Greek State did not provide for including it in the Greek Education Programs».
